Job summary

Sun Chemical is seeking an experienced HR & Labor Generalist to serve as the primary HR partner for our Northlake, Illinois manufacturing facility. The role focuses on workforce planning, employee relations, and labor relations, partnering with operations leaders and union leadership to drive engagement and business success.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years HR management experience, 2 years in a unionized manufacturing environment, and a solid knowledge of employment laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of HR management experience.
• 2 years of HR experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR contact for the Northlake manufacturing facility.
• Partner with site leadership on workforce planning, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
• Lead employee and labor relations activities and liaison with union leadership.
• Provide guidance on employee relations matters, investigations, accommodations, corrective actions, and terminations.
• Support talent acquisition, including recruiting, interviewing, and hiring for exempt and professional roles.
• Manage day-to-day labor relations processes, including grievances, job bidding, and collective bargaining agreement administration.
• Participate in labor contract negotiations and proposal development.
• Lead employee engagement, recognition, and development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, company policies, and AFFIRMATIVE ACTION requirements.
