Job summary

City of Joplin is seeking an HR Generalist to support the full employee lifecycle and provide friendly service to staff. You will collaborate with fourteen department managers on recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and compliance, ensuring timely and accurate HRIS updates while handling a variety of HR tasks.

The role involves coordinating background checks, training, and orientation, as well as supporting retirements and benefits communications with vendors and finance.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HR generalist supporting full employee lifecycle.
• Familiarity with hiring, onboarding, payroll, and benefits processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly external and internal customer service and collaborate with department managers.
• Manage recruitment processes: postings, candidate screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding.
• Handle payroll data entry, benefits, retirement programs, and insurance coordination.
• Assist with background checks, I-9 verification, training, and orientation.
• Audit and maintain HRIS records, compliance, and reporting; liaise with IT on hires/transfers.
