Job summary

University of Mary seeks a Human Resources Generalist to support recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, training, and compliance. You will work under the Director of Human Resources to serve the university’s needs and foster goodwill among staff and administration.

The role requires collaboration with multiple levels of staff on campus and adherence to the Benedictine mission. This is not a remote position, located in Bismarck, ND.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Two+ years HR experience with recruitment, benefits administration, and/or general HR work; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred.
• Experience with HR management systems or related technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment: manage postings, onboarding, background checks, and candidate activity in ATS.
• Employee relations: answer questions, provide policy guidance, and conduct exit interviews.
• Issue annual appointment renewals for administrative staff, faculty, and coaches.
• Benefits administration: eligibility, enrollment, changes, and open enrollment communications.
• Maintain HRIS records and generate reports; liaison with IT.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/local employment laws and I-9 processes.
• Coordinate HR events and serve on committees as needed.
