Job summary

Gate Gourmet is seeking an HR Generalist in Los Angeles to partner with management, support retention, and implement unit-wide HR programs. The role emphasizes collaboration with operations and training, handling recruitment for various positions, and mediating labor relations as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, 2+ years in HR, strong MS Office skills, and solid knowledge of employment laws to ensure compliant operations across the unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in an HR generalist role.
• Experience in transportation, hospitality, manufacturing or food service is highly desirable.
• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office products including Excel.
• Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills; bilingual preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal employment law and EEO compliance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with management to identify HR needs and align with business objectives.
• Implement strategies to support retention and HR programs.
• Drive division-wide HR strategies into the unit.
• Collaborate with operations and training to identify needs and content.
• Assist recruiting for union hourly and exempt/non-exempt roles.
• Mediate employee disputes and union grievances when needed.
• Provide counseling and training on labor/employee relations and EEO compliance.
• Ensure policy interpretation and legal compliance across policies.
• Deliver orientation and training programs as needed.
• Prepare and verify weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports.
• Respond to employment-related claims from agencies; assess and settle or defend.
