Mom’s Meals is seeking an HR Generalist in Grinnell, IA to support the full spectrum of HR functions and serve as the primary contact for employees and managers on HR questions.

The role emphasizes onboarding, employee relations, and policy compliance while partnering with HRBP and site leadership to enhance engagement and retention. A HR-related degree or 5+ years’ experience is expected, with bilingual abilities a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or minimum 5+ years of HR experience.
• Knowledge of general HR practices.
• Experience with HRIS, timekeeping, payroll, benefits systems.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Strong analytical and attention to detail.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in person and virtual orientations and process new hires in applicable systems (HRIS, I-9/E-Verify).
• Maintain employee files and records in electronic format.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee/manager questions about process, policy, compensation, benefits and performance.
• Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues and partnering on engagement activities.
• Handle tier 1 employee relations issues and work toward amicable solutions.
• Evaluate and escalate employee concerns to HRBP or Employee Relations.
• Support employee questions around leave and escalate to HRBP when necessary.
• Drive continuous improvement in HR programs in line with company values.
• Ensure site compliance with company policies.
• Encourage people and culture practices to retain key talent.
• Assist offboarding for low-risk terminations (letters, HRIS processing, badge removal).
• Respond to unemployment claims and fact-finding interviews.
