Job summary

Mom's Meals, a Purfoods Company, seeks an HR Generalist to support full HR functions in a positive, compliant workplace. This role partners with employees and managers and is the first point of contact for HR-related questions.

Based in Des Moines Fleur with occasional visits to Ankeny HQ, this position offers growth and a comprehensive benefits package, including PTO, 401(k) match, health, dental, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HR or 5+ years of HR experience.
• Knowledge of general HR practices and policies.
• Strong multitasking ability with attention to detail.
• Experience with HR systems including timekeeping and payroll.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person and virtual orientations for new hires and process onboarding in applicable systems (HRIS, I-9/E-Verify).
• Maintain employee files and records in electronic format.
• Serve as first point of contact for questions about processes, policies, compensation, benefits, and performance.
• Collaborate with HRBP and leaders to improve engagement and resolve conflicts promptly.
• Handle level-1 employee relations issues and collaborate toward amicable solutions.
• Assist with leave questions and escalation as needed; support unemployment claims and interviews.
• Drive continuous improvement in HR programs aligned with company values.
• Ensure compliance with policies at all sites and support retention efforts.
• Assist with offboarding activities for low-risk terminations and related processing.

This position will be housed in our Des Moines Fleur location with possible minimal visits to our Ankeny headquarters as needed.

• Support employee offboarding for low-risk terminations (termination letter, termination processing-HRIS, badge access removal, personal item removal)
• Respond to unemployment claims and fact finding interviews

Required Skills And Experience

• Associate’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or minimum of 5+ years of Human Resources related experience
• Knowledge of general HR practices
• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and work streams to deliver quality results
• Experience with HR systems to include timekeeping, payroll, benefits, etc.
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong analytic skills with excellent attention to detail
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Experience utilizing productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and SharePoint

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• SHRM Certification
• Experience in Manufacturing and/or Healthcare industry

Physical Requirements

• Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
• Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
