Job summary

SmithGroup is seeking a Human Resources Representative in Houston, TX to manage benefits, payroll, onboarding, and HRIS processes. You will advise managers, support policy development, and maintain compliance with federal and state laws.

The role requires a degree in HR or related field and 3–6 years of HR experience, with strong communication and confidentiality. A hybrid work environment and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Perform benefits and payroll administration, including enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, and communication to employees and candidates.
• Maintain HRIS records and compile reports from databases.
• Provide customer service for employees on benefits, payroll, and policies.
• Coordinate interview scheduling and track candidate credentials.
• Lead onboarding including new hire orientation, E-Verify, and paperwork entry into HRIS.
• Develop and administer HR plans and procedures for local personnel.
• Support firmwide initiatives and policies.
• Support department goals, objectives, and systems.
• Design and maintain HR programs as needed.
• Provide employee relations counseling and coaching resources.
• Advise managers on HR and employment laws.
• Maintain compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
