Job summary

The Oilgear Company seeks an HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations at the Traverse City, MI headquarters and across US locations. You will own payroll, benefits, leave administration, and Day 1 onboarding for employees nationwide, while partnering with the Director of Human Resources and the HR team.

You will apply independent judgment to payroll and benefits, resolve issues, and advise managers on policy, regulatory compliance, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Human Resources or Business, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of HR generalist or HR and payroll experience.
• Hands-on payroll processing experience; ADP Workforce Now preferred.
• Experience administering benefits and FMLA or other leaves of absence.
• Working knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, Form I-9 and E-Verify, COBRA, HIPAA privacy, and ERISA.
• Strong Excel skills, organization, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Own weekly and biweekly payroll for multiple locations using ADP Workforce Now.
• Administer benefits, eligibility determinations, and COBRA/open enrollment.
• Administer FMLA and state leaves, including designations and tracking.
• Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, and records management.
• Prepare HR reports, analyze data, and advise managers on policy compliance.
• Plan employee events, manage HR communications, and support site HR needs.
• Maintain confidential personnel files and required postings.
