Responsibilities

Job description

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for HR operations and serves as a trusted resource to employees, managers, and company leadership. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor position serving as Riverside's primary HR representative. The HR Manager will independently manage day-to-day HR operations while partnering with company leadership, Finance, outside counsel, and benefit and payroll vendors.This is a part-time hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities
Recruiting and Employee Onboarding
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop job descriptions, and manage recruiting for corporate, accounting, construction, property management, development and building maintenance roles.
  • Manage job postings, applicant screening, interviews, candidate communications, references, and offers; coordinate required background checks.
  • Lead onboarding, employment verification, orientation, and new-hire check-ins to support a positive employee experience.
Employee Relations and Performance Management
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employee questions and workplace concerns; handle sensitive matters with discretion, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Conduct and document workplace investigations; coordinate with leadership and outside counsel when appropriate.
  • Manage employee separations, exit interviews, and related documentation and communications.
Benefit, Payroll, and HR Administration
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefit programs, including insurance, retirement, leave and PTO; manage enrollment changes and annual open enrollment.
  • Work with brokers, carriers, and 3rd-party administrators to resolve employee issues, reconcile benefit information, and coordinate required notices and reporting.
  • Assist Finance with biweekly payroll processing by providing employee changes, verifying deductions, benefit payments, and reimbursements, and reviewing payroll information for accuracy.
  • Maintain personnel records; respond to employment verifications and employee payroll and benefit questions.
  • Maintain Employee Handbook and HR policies; support consistent application across departments.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience and experience as a one-person HR department supporting a small company.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work 25-30 hours per week, with additional time needed during open enrollment and active recruiting.
  • Practical experience in recruiting, employee relations, benefit administration, payroll and employment compliance; knowledge of Texas employment law.
  • Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and sound judgment; ability to manage competing deadlines and protect confidential information.
  • Excellent administrative skills and ability to work independently; comfortable completing the detailed work required to keep HR operations running smoothly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Excel.
