Job summary

CFS is seeking an HR Generalist to join our Kalamazoo-based nonprofit team. You will coordinate onboarding, serve as a key HR resource, and help ensure policy compliance across the organization.

You will partner with leadership on employee relations and recruitment, maintain records, and contribute to process improvements and engagement initiatives. Experience in nonprofit settings is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.
• 3–5 years HR Generalist experience.
• Experience onboarding, employee relations, and policy administration.
• Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in nonprofit/mission-driven organizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of employee onboarding, ensuring documentation, training, and orientation.
• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and supervisors on policies, benefits, and practices.
• Interpret and apply policies, employment agreements, and labor guidelines ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Partner with leadership to address employee relations, investigations, and performance guidance.
• Oversee recruitment activities including posting, interviews, offers, and manager support.
• Maintain accurate HR records and confidential documentation.
• Assist with policy development and handbook updates.
• Support employee engagement initiatives and wellness activities.
• Generate HR reports and assist with audits and reporting.
• Participate in special HR projects as needed.
