Job summary

The City of Crystal Lake is seeking an organized HR Generalist to support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, workers' compensation, and records. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources in a city government setting with ~240 FTEs and seasonal staff.

Responsibilities include coordinating seasonal recruitment, assisting employees and supervisors, maintaining confidential records, and delivering HR services while upholding professionalism and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or HR-related certificate.
• Three years of relevant HR experience or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and HR systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment and onboarding for seasonal positions.
• Serve as a resource on personnel policies, benefits, and employment matters.
• Assist with benefits open enrollment, billing reconciliation, and inquiries.
• Support workers' compensation claims administration and records.
• Maintain confidential personnel files and HR data; process changes and reports.
• Assist with job descriptions, compensation research, and performance coordination.
• Create onboarding materials and employee communications.
