Job summary

The Salvation Army of Dane County is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support employees, build relationships, and advance our mission. You will oversee local HR operations, ensure policy compliance, coordinate recruitment and onboarding, and guide supervisors on employee relations and performance management.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Divisional HR on complex matters, managing leaves and benefits communications, developing local HR procedures, and leading staff engagement

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors in HR or related field
• Experience: Three years in HR with management experience
• Certifications: Valid Wisconsin driver's license with TSA insurance clearance

Responsibilities

• Oversee local HR functions in alignment with Divisional HR policies
• Coordinate recruitment, interviews, and hiring documentation
• Ensure consistent onboarding for new hires
• Provide guidance on hiring practices, performance management, and employee relations
• Coordinate with Divisional HR on escalated employee matters and investigations
• Process promotions, transfers, wage adjustments and terminations
• Assist with leaves of absence and benefits communications
• Develop local HR procedures and training for managers
• Conduct exit interviews and share findings with Divisional HR
• Lead local job description updates and organizational charts
• Participate in strategic planning to align workforce with program goals
• Lead Staff Engagement Committee and manage HR budgets
• Maintain confidential personnel records
