Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in Austin seeks an HR Generalist II to support the Operations Branch with recruitment, onboarding, benefits and leave administration, employee relations, and performance management.

The role functions as a trusted advisor to management, guiding policy interpretation and organizational engagement. Hybrid work arrangement; 1 year HR experience; valid driver’s license; PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year HR-related experience or more.
• Valid driver’s license (driving a state vehicle).
• Preferred: coaching supervisors in employee relations; experience with FMLA/ADA leave management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted advisor and strategic consultant to management and employees.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, benefits and leave administration, and employee relations.
• Support performance management, policy interpretation, and organizational engagement.
• Generate and analyze automated HR reports.
• Provide guidance on sensitive issues such as discipline and workplace conduct.
• Assist in training and employee forums; coordinate communications.
• Maintain confidential HR data and ensure compliance with laws.
