Responsibilities

  • Provide HR support for plant employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Interpret and administer policies, procedures and practices.
  • Assist with employee relations and progressive discipline processes.
  • Maintain personnel files and HRIS records; process status changes.
  • Coordinate recruiting for hourly and select exempt positions; handle onboarding.
  • Administer background checks, I-9 compliance, onboarding, and DEI hiring practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Support HRIS, payroll, and reporting activities; maintain org charts.
  • Participate in HR projects and employee engagement initiatives.

Human Resources Generalist

Location: Manufacturing Plant (Union Environment)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to support our manufacturing facility and union workforce. This position serves as a key resource for employees and leaders by providing day-to-day HR support, maintaining compliance with employment practices, coordinating recruiting activities, administering HR programs, and ensuring accurate employee records management.

The ideal candidate will be a visible presence on the production floor, build strong relationships with employees and supervisors, and contribute to a positive and engaging workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Administration
  • Provide HR support and guidance for plant employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Interpret and administer company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Assist with employee relations matters and support progressive discipline processes.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure accurate HRIS recordkeeping.
  • Process employee status changes and maintain employee data within HR systems.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, payroll, and HR programs.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist in administering personnel policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed on HR best practices and regulatory changes.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Coordinate recruiting efforts for hourly production, administrative, and select exempt positions.
  • Create and post job openings, source candidates, and assist with interviewing activities.
  • Support temporary staffing recruitment and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Process background checks and pre-employment screenings.
  • Serve as the facility's I-9 administrator and maintain employment eligibility documentation.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through hiring and employment practices.
Compliance & Safety Support
  • Conduct periodic audits of personnel files, I-9 records, and HR documentation.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Support Affimative Action and EEO reporting activities.
  • Partner with plant leadership and safety personnel to support workplace safety initiatives and regulatory compliance.
HRIS, Payroll & Reporting
  • Serve as the plant subject matter expert for HR systems, including ADP and SAP.
  • Maintain organizational charts and workforce data.
  • Prepare and distribute employee headcount and HR reports.
  • Support payroll activities and employee data management.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of HR information across systems.
Additional Duties
  • Participate in HR projects and company initiatives.
  • Support employee engagement and communication programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting a union workforce.
  • Payroll experience using ADP and/or UKG.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and labor relations.
