Job summary

Roessel Joy, a Boston-based staffing firm, is partnering with a growing Greater Boston organization to hire an HR Generalist. This is a visible, hands-on role supporting employees at every level and collaborating with leadership.

The HR Generalist will manage the full range of HR activities—from hiring and onboarding to employee relations and compliance—keeping accurate records and handling sensitive matters with discretion.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive HR generalist or HR coordinator experience.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment law.
• Hands-on experience with HRIS or payroll platforms (ADP, Paylocity, UKG, Dayforce).
• Strong written and verbal communication with a service-oriented approach.
• Confidential handling of sensitive information.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, esp. Excel.
• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field preferred.
• SHRM-CP, PHR or similar certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Employee support: first point of contact for questions on HR policies, benefits, leave and day-to-day needs.
• Talent acquisition: support recruiting, posting roles, screening, scheduling interviews, offers and background checks.
• Onboarding and offboarding: manage new hire paperwork, I-9/E-Verify, orientation and exit processes.
• Benefits and payroll: administer open enrollment, changes, leaves and payroll updates.
• Employee relations: address workplace concerns, document investigations, support performance management.
• Compliance: align with federal/state employment laws including FMLA, ADA and wage/hour requirements.
• HRIS and reporting: maintain records and prepare HR metrics/reports.
• HR projects: contribute to policy updates and training programs.
