Job summary

Adelbrook in Connecticut is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support a full HR function for a nonprofit direct care agency serving children and adults with autism and IDD. You will collaborate across recruitment, payroll, benefits, employee relations, and compliance.

This role requires flexible schedule due to 24/7 operations; you will maintain HRIS, assist with performance management, training, and policy administration, while building strong partnerships with staff and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience: 1–3 years general HR preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/PMT certifications may be required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end recruitment including postings, interviews, background checks, and offers.
• Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires.
• Maintain applicant tracking systems and candidate communications.
• Process payroll or support payroll administration for accurate payments.
• Assist with compensation analysis and salary-related tasks.
• Verify timekeeping compliance and troubleshoot payroll discrepancies.
• Support benefits programs including health insurance, retirement, leave, and open enrollment.
• Provide HR guidance to employees and supervisors on policies and performance matters.
• Conduct workplace investigations and prepare documentation.
