Job summary

Milwaukee Repertory Theater is seeking a people-centered HR Generalist to join our team, reporting to the Director of Human Resources. You’ll lead benefits administration, onboarding, staff training, talent acquisition, and offboarding while ensuring compliance and a positive employee experience.

Collaborating with Finance and managers, you’ll build strong relationships, improve HR processes, and support a welcoming, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of professional HR experience with exposure to benefits, onboarding, recruiting, and employee relations.
• Experience with HRIS systems; Paylocity preferred; DEI initiatives; strong communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Benefits administration: open enrollment, leaves, and records management.
• Onboarding and employee lifecycle: orientation, paperwork, background checks, system setup.
• Talent acquisition: posting, screening, interviews, hiring coordination.
• Employee relations: advise on processes, conflict resolution, confidential handling.
• HR systems and reporting: maintain HRIS data and run reports.
• Training and compliance: schedule and track mandatory training; stay updated on regulations.
