Job summary

Evlo AI is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to own day-to-day people operations for a fast-growing tech team. You will manage onboarding, offboarding, leave, and HRIS records while translating policy into practice across distributed and remote teams.

You’ll administer benefits, support performance cycles and engagement surveys, and help shape onboarding, training, and policy rollout across locations. A Bachelor's in HR/Business or equivalent, with PHR/SHRM-CP a plus, is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of HR generalist experience in tech or fast-growing settings.
• Experience with multi-state compliance, including DC laws.
• Hands-on HRIS experience with BambooHR, Rippling, Workday or Gusto.

Responsibilities

• Own full employee lifecycle: onboarding, offboarding, leave, records in HRIS.
• Administer benefits: open enrollment, plan changes, broker/vendor escalations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and DC employment regulations.
• Support performance cycles and engagement surveys; analyze results.
• Draft, update, and roll out HR policies and employee handbook.
• Partner with managers on ER matters, investigations, coaching.
• Maintain accurate HR data and build headcount/attrition reports.

About The Role

The role owns the day-to-day of people operations for a fast-growing technology team: employee lifecycle, benefits administration, compliance, and HRIS data integrity.

The role owns the day-to-day of people operations for a fast-growing technology team: employee lifecycle, benefits administration, compliance, and HRIS data integrity. You will be the first point of contact for employee questions, translate policy into practice across distributed and remote teams, and partner with leadership on onboarding, performance, and engagement programs that scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, offboarding, leave management, and records in the HRIS (BambooHR, Rippling, or similar)
• Administer benefits programs: open enrollment, plan changes, and resolving employee escalations with brokers and vendors
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and DC-specific employment regulations, including multi-state remote employment requirements
• Support performance review cycles and engagement surveys; analyze results and recommend actions
• Draft, update, and roll out HR policies and the employee handbook across locations
• Partner with managers on employee relations matters, investigations, and coaching conversations
• Maintain accurate HR data and build reporting on headcount, turnover, and attrition trends

What We Are Looking For

• 3-6 years of HR generalist experience, ideally in a technology or high-growth environment
• Working knowledge of multi-state employment compliance, including DC labor law
• Hands-on experience with an HRIS platform (BambooHR, Rippling, Workday, or Gusto)
• Strong written communication skills and comfort handling confidential information
• Ability to balance employee advocacy with operational and business needs
• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience; PHR/SHRM-CP a plus
• Bonus: experience scaling HR programs at a Series A-C startup or supporting a distributed/remote-first team
