Human Resources (HR) Generalist
Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering a broad range of human resources functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, policy implementation, training and development, and HR operations. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers, helping to foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee HR-related questions and concerns.
- Support managers and employees in resolving workplace issues and conflicts.
- Promote employee engagement and a positive work environment.
- Conduct investigations and assist with employee relations matters as needed.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including posting job openings, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and facilitating offers.
- Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
- Manage new hire onboarding and orientation programs.
- Ensure completion of new hire documentation and compliance requirements.
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
- Process employee status changes, including promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, and terminations.
- Assist with HR reporting, metrics, and audits.
- Ensure confidentiality of employee information.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Support employee benefits enrollment and changes.
- Respond to employee questions regarding benefits programs.
- Assist with leave administration, including FMLA, ADA, and other applicable programs.
- Coordinate with benefits brokers and vendors as needed.
Performance Management & Development
- Assist with performance review processes and annual evaluation cycles.
- Support employee development and training initiatives.
- Track training completion and professional development activities.
- Provide guidance on performance improvement plans and corrective actions.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist in developing and updating HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
- Support workplace safety programs and required compliance training.
- Participate in HR audits and compliance reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Working knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification.
- Experience supporting multi-state employee populations.
- Knowledge of compensation, benefits, and employment compliance programs.
