Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. in the United States (Ocala, FL) is seeking an HR Generalist to coordinate daily HR functions and support training, compliance, and recruitment efforts. You will facilitate mandatory trainings, manage records, and collaborate with managers to ensure fair and efficient hiring processes.

The role emphasizes a compliance-minded, organized, and communicative professional who can work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to teammate engagement and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Hands-on experience in training and coaching.
  • Understand safety practice guidelines.
  • Strong MS Office skills including Word and Excel; PowerPoint is useful; PeopleSoft experience preferred.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems clearly and diplomatically.
  • Ability to review and interpret data, transactions, policies, and business practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with teammates at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and observe in training programs to comply with McLane Company practices and laws.
  • Facilitate mandatory harassment/substance abuse training, safety, and arrange classes for teammates.
  • Maintain clothing, relocation billing, FMLA records, Workers Compensation and safety investigations, documentation, reporting and evacuation plans.
  • Coordinate special events such as: CMN, United Way, Health Fair, teammate parties, etc.
  • Support HR Manager as needed.
  • Ensure employment processes comply with legal guidelines and fair treatment of applicants.
  • Manage requisitions and develop recruitment strategies with managers (advertisements, internet).
  • Coordinate and attend career fairs, screen applications and resumes, communicate status to applicants, check references.
  • Advise supervisors on hiring/offer procedures, arrange paperwork and orientation, maintain Jobs Box.
  • Promote morale through open communication and policy interpretation.
  • Coordinate teammate meetings and assist in New Hire Orientation; daily interaction with teammates and managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The HR Generalist is responsible for coordinating the daily functions of the Human Resources Team.

What you'll do as an HR Generalist:

  • Ensure that the McLane Company employment process is carried out within legal guidelines and that each applicant is treated fairly and consistently.
  • Manage requisitions and develop appropriate recruitment strategies with managers (i.e.: advertisements, internet).
  • Coordinate and attend career fairs, receive, review, and screen applications and resumes, communicate application status to applicants, check references and verify previous employment.
  • Advise supervisors on hiring/offer procedures, arrange pre-employment paperwork and orientation, and maintain Jobs Box.
  • Promote teammate morale through open lines of communication and policy interpretation.
  • Coordinate teammate meetings assist in facilitation of New Hire Orientation, and interact daily with teammates and managers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications you’ll bring as an HR Generalist:
  • Have a bachelor's degree.
  • Have 2+ years experience in Human Resources.
  • Possess hands on experience in training and coaching.
  • Understand safety practice guidelines.
  • Have strong MS Office skills including Word and Excel. PowerPoint will be useful; Peoplesoft experience preferred.
  • Be able to identify and work through problems and conflicting issues in a clear and diplomatic manner.
  • Be able to review and interpret data, transactions, policies, and business practices.
  • Be an effective communicator (verbally and written) with teammates at all levels.
  • Be able to work in diverse and fast paced environment.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
