Job summary

Outerland, a 70-person landscaping company in Massachusetts, seeks an HR Generalist to own recruiting, onboarding, payroll, and records management. You will support employees, ensure compliance, and keep HR operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable using Paylocity or similar HRIS to manage benefits, payroll, and worker relations.

Qualifications

• Exceptional organizational skills; able to manage complex payroll and compliance tasks.
• Self-starter who pivots between tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with HRIS systems; Paylocity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the full recruiting lifecycle: sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, sending offers, and maintaining high-volume candidate pipelines.
• Run onboarding to ensure new hires are trained and integrated from Day 1.
• Manage payroll, administer benefits, and maintain employee records in the HRIS; ensure processes are followed.
• Serve as primary resource for employee relations, handling benefits questions and Workers' Comp claims.

In this role, you will be the steady hand that keeps our employee lifecycle running, ensuring that our team is supported, compliant, and equipped to do their best work. While you will manage the essential day-to-day operations of HR, success in this role requires rigorous organizational discipline, reliable follow-through, and a genuine commitment to supporting the team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

the Team: Own the full recruiting lifecycle, from sourcing and screening applicants, to coordinating interviews with hiring managers, sending offer letters, and keeping a high-volume pipeline of candidates. Then run a smooth onboarding process so every new hire is trained and integrated into our culture from Day 1. Run the HR Operations: Manage the critical details that keep the business running. Process payroll, administer benefits, and maintain pristine employee records in our HRIS (Paylocity), all while ensuring our processes are consistently followed. Support the Team: Serve as the primary resource for employee relations, handling everything from routine benefits questions to complex workers' comp claims and conflict resolution.
