Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Regional HR Generalist to support Aggregates, Ready Mix Concrete, and Sand Stabilized operations across multiple locations in the U.S. This role partners with employees, plant leadership, and regional management to deliver talent acquisition, training, and HR operational support.

You will administer leave, benefits, training and onboarding processes, and provide HRIS support using Workday and Kronos, while ensuring compliance and effective employee relations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, training, and HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage talent programs and recruiting activities, including intern and management trainee programs, mentorship, employee referrals, career fairs, and interview and selection support.
  • Deliver new-hire orientation and coordinate training for employees, plant administrators, supervisors, and plant leadership, including Kronos and Workday processes.
  • Administer core employee programs and transactions, including leave-of-absence communications, benefits enrollment updates, tuition reimbursement, exit interviews, Workday forms, and special-pay requests.
  • Provide responsive HR systems and employee-relations support to employees and plant leadership, resolving inquiries related to timecards, schedules, pay, benefits, access, and historical edits.
  • Support consistent HR operations across assigned locations by conducting annual site reviews, assisting plant administrators, coordinating training communications, and completing required administrative approvals.

We are seeking a collaborative and customer-focused Regional HR Generalist to support our Aggregates, Ready Mix Concrete, and Sand Stabilized operations. This role partners closely with employees, plant leadership, and regional management to deliver talent acquisition, employee relations, training, and HR operational support across multiple locations.


What You'll Be Doing

What Are We Looking For
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and provide exceptional HR support to employees and operational leaders across multiple locations.
  • Knowledge of employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, and HR compliance practices.
  • Experience utilizing HR technology and workforce management systems such as Workday, Kronos, or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to analyze issues, exercise sound judgment, and deliver practical HR solutions that support business objectives and employee engagement; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Critical Experiences & Skills

Broad HR experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, and HR operations in a multi-site environment. Strong partnership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively support employees, supervisors, and operational leadership. Proficiency with HRIS and workforce management systems, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while traveling throughout the region.


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, training, and HR operations.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations in manufacturing, industrial, construction materials, aggregates, ready mix concrete, mining, or similar operational environments preferred; Work Environment Occasionally travel is required to plants, terminals, offices, and operational sites.
  • Works in a combination of office, plant, and outdoor environments, including active production facilities and construction material operations.
  • Frequent interaction with employees, supervisors, plant administrators, and operational leadership.
  • Must comply with all company safety policies and procedures while visiting operational sites.

Physical Demands of the Job

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office, plant, and operational environments, including traversing uneven terrain and climbing stairs as needed. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds and perform routine physical activities required during site visits. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in varying weather conditions and environments with exposure to dust, noise, and other conditions common to aggregates, ready mix concrete, and sand stabilized operations.

$85,000-$100,000 base salary and participation in our annual incentive plan.
