About the Position
Bermuda Village Retirement Community is seeking a dedicated and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our Administration team.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as the primary on-site HR representative and is the first point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related questions, concerns, and support. This position works closely with our Professional Employer Organization (PEO) while managing the day-to-day HR needs of our community.

What You’ll Do
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR needs.
- Foster a supportive, respectful, and open workplace environment.
- Build positive relationships with employees and managers throughout the organization.
- Handle sensitive and confidential employee matters with professionalism and discretion.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, and new-hire onboarding.
- Help create a welcoming and positive onboarding experience for new employees.
- Organize and participate in community job fairs and recruitment events.
- Help develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified candidates.
HR Compliance & Policies
- Work closely with the PEO to support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Help ensure HR policies and practices are consistently followed and aligned with applicable requirements.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation and employee records.
Performance Management
- Support managers with performance reviews, feedback, and employee development.
- Assist managers with employee-related questions and performance matters.
- Help promote employee growth and development.
Benefits & Payroll Support
- Coordinate with the PEO regarding employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and compliance.
- Assist employees with benefits-related questions and direct them to appropriate resources when needed.
- Work with the PEO to address payroll-related questions and issues and support accurate, timely payroll processing.
Training & Employee Development
- Assist with organizing and promoting employee training and development programs.
- Support initiatives that encourage employee growth, engagement, and retention.
- Conduct regular check-ins with new hires to assess their progress, provide support, and proactively address concerns.
HRIS & Records Management
- Maintain accurate, secure, and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS.
- Conduct periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure required documentation is complete.
- Assist with maintaining organized and confidential personnel files.
Employee Engagement
- Develop and promote initiatives designed to improve employee satisfaction, engagement, motivation, and retention.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for employees while helping foster a positive workplace culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources with knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
- Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of an organization.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact, professionalism, diplomacy, and integrity.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Experience working with a PEO or third-party HR service is a plus.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to meet all applicable health requirements.
- Must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is plus.
Physical & Work Environment
This position is based on a retirement community campus and involves frequent interaction with employees and residents. The position may require:
- Sitting and standing for short or extended periods.
- Frequent walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and squatting.
- Repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists, and arms.
- Pushing, pulling, and lifting 25+ pounds.
- Working in environments with varying lighting, noise levels, and temperatures.
- Exposure to odors and communicable illnesses that may be present in a healthcare/residential setting.
- Working with individuals who may be elderly, ill, disabled, emotionally upset, or occasionally hostile.
- Being subject to callback during emergency conditions, including severe weather, evacuations, or post-disaster situations.
