Mountain View Fire Rescue is seeking an organized HR Coordinator to support our HR Department. You’ll assist with recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and personnel records, while maintaining confidentiality and complying with policy and employment laws.

This entry-level professional role offers an opportunity to build a career in Human Resources, working closely with supervisors and employees to deliver excellent HR services across the district.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential.
• Experience with HR basics is a plus.
• Familiarity with HR policies and employment laws is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support recruitment by posting positions, scheduling interviews, and communicating with applicants.
• Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, reference checks, and new hire paperwork.
• Assist with employee onboarding and new employee orientation.
• Maintain accurate, confidential personnel files, HR databases, and applicant tracking records.
• Process employee status changes, including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and separations.
• Help employees with benefit enrollment, qualifying life event changes, and annual open enrollment.
• Track leave balances and support FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and other leave processes.
• Support employee engagement, recognition, training, and development programs.
• Prepare reports and correspondence, maintain HR calendars, and assist with special projects.
