Job summary

Ashland invites applications for an HR Coordinator at our Hopewell, VA site. This pivotal on-site role supports payroll, onboarding, recruiting, labor relations, and general HR operations to ensure policy compliance and excellent service.

You will partner with the Plant Manager and report to the Senior HR Business Partner, delivering accurate payroll, maintaining records, and supporting union-related activities in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, payroll administration, or related business functions.
• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience supporting a unionized workforce is preferred.
• Familiarity with HRIS, payroll systems, Excel, and applicant tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Handle payroll administration including processing and auditing weekly transactions.
• Coordinate onboarding and verify Form I-9 documentation; maintain records.
• Support recruiting activities, including posting, ATS, background checks.
• Provide labor relations support, including grievance tracking and union communications.
• Serve as the first point of contact for HR questions and support employee relations.
• Provide administrative support to plant leadership and prepare reports.
