Job summary

Ashland Specialty Ingredients, GP in Hopewell, VA seeks an HR Coordinator to serve as on-site HR support for payroll, onboarding, recruiting, labor relations, and general HR operations. This role partners with the Plant Manager to meet workforce needs, engage employees, and manage day-to-day HR tasks in a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in HR, familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems, and experience or comfort working with a unionized workforce.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or related functions.
• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience supporting a unionized workforce is preferred.
• Familiarity with HRIS, payroll systems, excel, and applicant tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Process and support payroll administration for weekly payroll transactions.
• Coordinate onboarding activities and ensure compliance with I-9 requirements.
• Assist with recruiting, scheduling, and candidate communications.
• Provide administrative support for labor relations and union documentation.
• Support employee relations and HR processes with confidentiality.
• Assist plant leadership with administrative tasks and reporting.
