Job summary

University of Texas in Austin seeks a Human Resources Coordinator for the Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics department. You will manage appointments, onboarding, visa coordination, and timekeeping with strict attention to accuracy and confidentiality.

Reporting to the Department Director, you will support staff recruitment, scholarship and tuition processes, and ensure complete personnel records while collaborating with HR and Payroll offices to ensure timely processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of HR-related experience.
• Working knowledge of foundational HR concepts and practices.
• Ability to manage a high volume of work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and professional demeanor.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Process HR appointments for visiting scholars, postdocs, students, and research staff with payroll deadlines.
• Coordinate visas for international employees with Texas Global and myIO.
• Oversee onboarding including background checks, I-9, and policy briefings.
• Manage employee separations and payouts; finalize retirements as needed.
• Process graduate scholarship and tuition documentation each semester.
• Run monthly HR compliance reports and maintain central personnel files.
• Serve as primary timekeeping contact and approve timesheets.
