Job Description
We are seeking an experienced HR Coordinator to provide day-to-day support across a broad range of Human Resources functions. This role will have a strong emphasis on recruitment while also contributing to onboarding, employee engagement, benefits, HR administration, wellness initiatives, learning and development, and employee support.
The ideal candidate will have approximately three years of HR experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment. This individual should be proactive, highly organized, comfortable handling confidential information, and capable of exercising sound judgment when addressing employee and HR-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a resource for employees and managers by providing support and guidance on routine HR questions and processes.
- Coordinate recruiting activities from job intake through candidate selection, including posting positions, reviewing applicants, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and assist with candidate screening and interview activities.
- Track recruiting activity and ensure hiring documentation and follow‑up are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare employment offer materials and assist with pre‑employment processes.
- Research HR questions and provide appropriate information while escalating sensitive or complex issues to HR leadership.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and internal communication programs.
- Assist with planning and coordinating employee events and organizational initiatives.
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding and orientation activities.
- Support employee departures, including offboarding processes and coordination of company equipment returns.
- Assist with training, professional development, learning management system activities, and related projects.
- Provide support with benefits administration and payroll‑related activities.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation within HRIS/HCM systems.
- Perform periodic reviews of personnel files and ensure records are properly organized and maintained.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc HR reports as requested.
- Assist with special HR projects and other departmental priorities.
- Deliver a professional and responsive experience to candidates and employees.
Qualifications
- Approximately 3 years of professional HR experience, with a strong background in recruitment.
- Previous nonprofit experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting employees in a multi-state environment is a plus.
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of basic HR policies, employment regulations, compliance requirements, and standard HR practices.
- Working knowledge of employee benefits and some exposure to payroll processes.
- Experience using an HRIS/HCM platform; Paycor or a similar system is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to appropriately manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with an ability to investigate issues and identify practical solutions.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a small HR team.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and follow‑through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing organizational needs.
Additional Details
- Contract Duration: Approximately 4 months, with an opportunity to convert to a permanent position based on performance and organizational needs.
- Overtime: Not anticipated. Any overtime would require prior management approval.
- Work Environment: Hybrid schedule with three days working onsite and two days remotely.
