Job Description

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner, Senior to join our team. The Senior Business Partner (SBP) aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated units. This role involves forming partnerships across HR functions to deliver value-added services, maintaining strategic business acumen, and serving as a coach, advisor, and compliance checkpoint. The SBP does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but mentors others within the department.

Your role in action:
  1. Consult and advise management and employees, providing guidance as appropriate.
  2. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management, reducing legal risks, and ensuring compliance. Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct investigations.
  3. Provide performance management guidance, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
  4. Work with management and employees to improve relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
  5. Offer HR policy guidance and interpretation during influential interactions.
  6. Identify training and coaching needs for business units and individuals.
  7. Understand organizational mission, hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, and compensation practices.
  8. Conduct weekly quality control meetings with business units to proactively address transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  9. Collaborate with HR colleagues to develop processes and solutions tailored to units.
  10. Analyze data trends and metrics to inform business decisions.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent
  • PHR certification required
  • Deep knowledge of legal HR requirements, employee engagement, workers’ compensation, employment laws

Experience:

  • At least 5 years as a Business Partner or Senior Generalist in shared services
  • Experience in HR, professional development, or employee relations
  • Business acumen and change management experience
  • Supporting decentralized HR services
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with diverse populations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • In-depth HR knowledge from education and experience
  • Strategic decision-making and high-level interfacing skills
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, and influence skills
  • Approachable and responsible, connecting with employees at all levels
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment, promoting diversity and inclusion
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills for HR training
  • Dynamic, progressive thinking
  • Relationship management, strategic planning, and data visualization skills
