Job summary

Rise Baking Company in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Staff Accountant to provide specialized accounting support for HR-related costs and contribute to the monthly close. You will directly prepare journal entries and reconciliations for payroll, benefits, medical, and workers’ compensation, analyze results, and provide actionable data to management.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting, 2+ years of GL experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in SAP with advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2+ years of General Ledger accounting experience.
• Strong US GAAP understanding, especially accruals and prepaids.
• Manufacturing or high-volume inventory experience a plus.
• Proficient in SAP or similar Tier-1 ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel: Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP; Power Query an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead journal entries and accounting support for payroll, benefits, medical, and workers’ compensation during month-end close.
• Analyze complex balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with minimal supervision.
• Maintain prepaid and accrual accounts; ensure proper amortization.
• Support ERP integrations and acquisition-related accounting.
• Assist with external audit requests and prepare documentation.
• Collaborate with Production/Warehouse to gather data and approve items.
• Comply with food safety requirements and company policies.
