Essential Functions

  • Lead the preparation of journal entries and accounting support for payroll, benefits, medical, and workers’ compensation during the enterprise monthly close.

  • Analyze and perform complex balance sheet reconciliations involving multi-step processes or large datasets. Research and resolve discrepancies with minimal supervision.

  • Maintain prepaid and accrual accounts, collaborating with internal departments and third-party specialists to ensure proper amortization and recording of expenses.

  • Support ERP system integrations and assist with acquisition-related accounting and integration activities.

  • Assist with compiling external audit requests and ensure all processes promote strong fiscal period controls.

  • Work with various departments to obtain information/approvals and serve as backup for other accounting team members.

  • Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Comply with all food safety requirements, training, and company policies.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (strongly preferred) or Finance.

  • Experience: 2+ years of hands‑on General Ledger accounting experience. Must have direct experience \"owning\" a piece of the month‑end close process (not just reviewing it).

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP, specifically regarding accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets. Experience in a manufacturing or high‑volume inventory environment is a significant plus.

  • ERP Mastery: Proficiency in SAP or a similar Tier‑1 ERP system. Candidate must understand how sub‑ledgers (AP/AR/Inventory) feed into the General Ledger.

  • Excel \"Power User\": Must be comfortable managing large datasets.

    • Required: Advanced use of Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.

    • Preferred: Experience with Power Query or building complex data‑reconciliation templates.

  • Analytical Rigor: Demonstrated ability to perform Variance Analysis— not just identifying that a number changed but researching why it changed.

  • Operational Mindset: Ability to collaborate with non‑finance partners (like Production or Warehouse managers) to gather data and resolve discrepancies.

  • Deadline Driven: Proven track record of meeting strict \"Day 3\" or \"Day 5\" month‑end close deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
