Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Environmental Quality is seeking an HR Technician II (S) to assist the Division HR Manager with daily HR activities for the Air Quality and Water Infrastructure divisions. The role includes managing recruitment postings, new hire orientation, benefits administration, HRIS and payroll processing, and maintaining personnel records.

It also supports timekeeping, unemployment claims, and policy guidance for managers and staff in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field and 1 year of experience.
• Or 2 years of progressive HR experience.
• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment life cycle and postings.
• Administer new hire orientation and benefits.
• Process personnel actions in HRIS and payroll.
• Maintain filing systems for HR.
• Support timekeeping and unemployment claims.
• Provide policy guidance to managers and staff.
