Job summary

RedLine Performance Solutions seeks a Scientific Programmer/Analyst to support the National Weather Service's Central Operations, ensuring the operational production suite runs reliably and efficiently. The role focuses on migrating weather prediction models to a GCP HPC environment and maintaining 24/7 operations.

The candidate should have a BS or equivalent in atmospheric sciences or related fields with five+ years of experience, strong Linux/HPC experience, and proficiency in Python, C/C++,

Qualifications

• BS or equivalent in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, computer science, mathematics, or related physical science, with five years or more experience.
• Experience in HPC environment on Linux with a large-scale parallel file-system, MPI/OpenMP and workload managers.
• Proficient in Python, C/C++, and Fortran; able to compile, test, debug and document applications.
• Working knowledge of shell scripting and modern software development practices (CI/CD, Agile).
• Ability to manage Git repositories and collaborate with developers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Analyst on the team supporting the HPC operational weather-model suite.
• Provide central guidance and forecast products 24/7/365 for NWS operational systems.
• Migrate models from on-premise HPC clusters to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) HPC environment.
• Respond to on-call rotations and troubleshoot complex applications.
