Job summary

Strategic Business Systems, Inc. (SBS) is seeking an HPC Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize high‑performance computing environments for government and enterprise workloads, focusing on Linux clusters and performance tuning.

Candidates should have experience with Slurm/PBS/LSF, InfiniBand, Lustre/GPFS, and Bash or Python scripting. AWS HPC familiarity is a plus. Location is Chantilly, VA or remote/hybrid options; flexible arrangements are considered.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Experience with HPC or large-scale distributed computing.
• Proficient Linux/Unix system administration.
• Experience with Slurm, PBS, or LSF.
• Understanding of parallel and distributed computing.
• Familiarity with high-performance networking and parallel storage.
• Bash or Python scripting experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain HPC environments supporting compute-intensive workloads.
• Administer and optimize Linux-based clustered systems.
• Manage workload systems like Slurm, PBS, or LSF.
• Monitor and tune compute, storage, and network resources.
• Support high-speed interconnects (InfiniBand) and parallel file systems (Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS).
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Implement automation using Bash or Python.
• Ensure system reliability, security, and compliance with standards.
• Provide technical documentation and user support.
• Contribute to capacity planning and infrastructure enhancements.
• Nice to Have: AWS-based HPC integration for hybrid computing.
