Job summary

SOC LLC is seeking an on-site High Performance Compute Technical Consultant in Los Alamos, NM to support operations and hardware maintenance of HPC systems. The role requires the ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance and US citizenship, with on-site work five days per week.

Responsibilities include monitoring system health, troubleshooting hardware, Linux administration, ticketing, and collaborating with a dedicated team across multiple communication channels.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a Q Clearance (required).
• US Citizenship (required).
• Onsite in Los Alamos, NM, 5 days per week; not remote.
• Solid understanding of server hardware components and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain HPC compute, network, and storage system health.
• Troubleshoot and repair server hardware issues.
• Perform basic Linux administration tasks as needed.
• Create, monitor, and close support tickets.
• Handle hardware component replacements using spares.
• Operate hand tools for server maintenance.
• Document repairs, parts, and returns.
• Maintain site documentation and workflows.
• Assist with new system installation and expansion activities.
• Read diagrams to locate components.
• Collaborate with team via email, Teams, Slack, and in person.
• Participate in on‑call schedule for 24x7 operations.
• Keep tools and workspace organized.
