Job summary

UNLV Research seeks a Research Cyberinfrastructure Engineer to design and maintain HPC infrastructure, storage, and networks supporting data-intensive research and teaching. You will collaborate with UNLV IT and the Division of Research to deploy cutting-edge cyberinfrastructure and AI/ML workflows.

You will translate researchers’ needs into scalable technical solutions, mentor students and staff, and help drive innovation in high-performance computing across campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years in systems administration or HPC environments.
• Experience in higher education or research settings is preferred.
• Experience supporting researchers with federal or regional grants is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain HPC hardware and software including clusters and storage.
• Monitor performance and tune systems for maximum computational efficiency.
• Provide technical support to researchers and students using HPC resources.
• Implement security protocols and ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop documentation and train users on HPC tools and workflows.
