Job summary

The University of New Mexico's CARC invites applications for a Systems/Network Analyst 2. This role helps faculty, researchers, and students utilize Linux-based servers, workstations, and virtual machines for research computing.

You will work with PIs and IT teams to install software such as Python, R, MATLAB, and C/C++ libraries, and assist in transitioning to CARC HPC or cloud environments while maintaining strong security and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Strong Linux system administration skills and hardware troubleshooting.
• Experience with HPC computing resource management, installation, troubleshooting, and workflow development.
• Ability to communicate effectively with researchers and stakeholders and to work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Consult with users and PIs to gather requirements for research computing projects including networks, security, and systems.
• Design, build, and maintain Linux servers, workstations, and VMs; install/analyze software such as Python, R, MATLAB, and C/C++ libraries.
• Implement defense-in-depth security and coordinate with UNM Information Security and CARC IT.
• Assist researchers in migrating/scaling workloads to CARC HPC or cloud platforms as needed.
• Manage user access and provide training or instruction on research computing OS and applications.
