Job summary

The NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) seeks a Community Coordinator to support the Division of Tenant and Owner Resources. You will coordinate programs, manage data, and liaise with landlords, tenants, and partners to advance housing subsidies and compliance.

The role requires strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, with a background in community work and knowledge of rental assistance programs.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication both written and oral.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) proficiency.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of rental subsidies preferred; bilingual a plus.
• NYS driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work independently and manage own workload.
• Train, manage and ensure staff compliance with regulations.
• Public communication: relay accurate information to landlords, tenants and public.
• Supervise staff; approve timesheets; conduct performance reviews; action disciplinary steps as needed.
• Respond to inquiries; collaborate with senior management to implement best practices.
• Review financial documents and ensure accuracy.
• Attend meetings and trainings; represent the Division at events.
• Understand subsidy program steps: eligibility, contracts, briefings, rent calculations, data entry.
• Work on special projects and initiatives; may require evenings or weekends.
