Job summary

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) is seeking a Community Associate to support the Division of Tenant & Owner Resources in HOME TBRA and related rental subsidy programs. The role focuses on case management, eligibility screening, and customer service for applicants and participants.

You will work with diverse stakeholders, help prepare documentation, and ensure compliance with HUD rules. NYC residency is required; grant-funded for two years.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking.
• Customer service orientation with a focus on tenants.
• Computer proficiency with common office software.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of assisted or applicant households.
• Initial application screening.
• Determination and verification of eligibility.
• Client briefings (internal and external meetings).
• May perform community outreach to assist program participation.
• Prepare and send appropriate correspondence, track responses.
• Document case files and electronic records, file preparation.
• Rent calculations.
• Review yearly recertifications of household composition and income/asset information.
• Demonstrate ability to manage multiple cases while prioritizing cases for processing.
• Attend mandatory trainings.
