Job summary

Western Tidewater Community Service Board is seeking a Housing Specialist for the Permanent Supportive Housing Department to assist participants with move‑in needs and housing stabilization.

You will develop individualized housing stabilization plans, coordinate admissions and discharges, and collaborate with law enforcement, hospitals and providers. Our mission is to provide recovery-oriented care to the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with professional, clinical experience in the provision of substance abuse treatment or a combination of education, training, and experience indicating the possession of essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists participants with obtaining household goods, utilities, and other move-in necessities.
  • Develops individualized housing stabilization plans, coordinates admissions and discharges from inpatient treatment.
  • Collaborates and liaises with law enforcement officers, local hospitals, medical providers, and others in the planning, provision, and evaluation of these services.
  • Participates in daily PSH team meetings to discuss client treatment goals and needs.
  • Collaborate with other members of the PSH Team to provide comprehensive mental health and supportive services to clients.
  • Provides up-to-date documentation consistent with agency policies and procedures.
  • Receives clinical and procedural guidance from the PSH Program Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor which are consistent with the position and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
