Job summary

The Homeless Services Case Manager at Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) in Toms River, NJ, will serve as a frontline contact for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, guiding them from engagement through housing placement within Coordinated Entry and RRH programs.

You will assess needs, coordinate rental and move-in assistance, maintain HIPAA-compliant records, and collaborate with housing providers and healthcare partners to support a housing-first, client-centered approach

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least two years of relevant experience in housing, homelessness, case management, social services, or related settings.
• Ability to work respectfully with individuals and families experiencing homelessness and barriers.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to apply program requirements and maintain accurate records using electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as accessible point of contact for individuals and families experiencing homelessness; complete intake, screening, and assessments.
• Determine program and income eligibility, including HUD homeless status categories.
• Recruit and negotiate with landlords to secure housing options.
• Support housing search, rental applications, and lease-up; coordinate inspections and rent reasonableness.
• Develop Housing Stability Plan and connect households to mainstream resources; monitor progress toward housing stability.
• Prepare documentation for eligible financial assistance and deposits.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant records and confidentiality.
• Prepare notices and participate in case conferencing with partners to identify housing options.
