Job summary

HELP USA's Homebase program in Bronx, NY, seeks a Housing Specialist to assist families and individuals at risk of homelessness to regain housing stability. You will assess eligibility, mediate with landlords, accompany clients to view apartments, and collaborate with case management to provide rapid rehousing and relocation support.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and experience helping the homeless population.

Qualifications

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven negotiation abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with homeless populations or housing placement is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake assessments to determine program eligibility.
Provide landlord/tenant mediation and negotiate on client behalf.
Accompany clients to view apartments and assist with securing permanent housing.
Collaborate with case management to provide rapid rehousing and relocation services.
Develop housing resources and network with subsidy programs.
Deliver client-centered workshops on housing, finances, budgeting, and housing court matters.
Conduct community outreach and program enrollment presentations.
