Job summary

Helpline Youth Counseling is seeking a Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager to deliver housing-focused case management to high-acuity clients in the Long Beach Rapid Re-Housing program. The role uses trauma-informed and motivational interviewing techniques to help clients achieve housing goals.

Responsibilities include intake coordination, client budgeting, income enhancement, and collaboration with property managers to provide comprehensive services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One year experience with people experiencing homelessness preferred, incl. those with mental illness or substance use.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, harm reduction and housing first.
• Maintain professionalism with clients with urgent needs.
• Willingness to travel to clients; reliable transportation and driver's license.
• Clear and concise oral and written communication; strong time management.

Responsibilities

• Receive referrals and coordinate intakes within a timely period.
• Process and update rental packets for each client promptly.
• Provide trauma-informed case management to clients on caseload.
• Maintain a caseload averaging 20 clients; adjust as needed.
• Develop Housing Retention Plans with short- and long-term goals.
• Develop budgets every 90 days and help reduce housing costs.
