Job summary

LGBT Life Center is seeking a Housing Specialist in Norfolk, VA to provide client-centered housing assistance, case management, and stabilization services. You will conduct intakes, determine eligibility, and assist with housing search while coordinating with landlords and partners.

Responsibilities include program compliance, HMIS data collection, rent calculations, and reporting. You will work in-person as part of the Housing Program under the Housing Program Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field; or a minimum of four (4) years of experience in housing services, homelessness response, youth services coordination, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Client Services & Housing Stabilization: conduct intakes, determine eligibility, explain HUD/HCV requirements, assist with housing search and placement, provide ongoing case management and housing stabilization services.
• Program Compliance & Quality Assurance: perform annual recertifications, HQS inspections, verify unit safety, maintain accurate files, HMIS data collection, and produce required reports.
• Financial & Administrative Responsibilities: calculate rent contributions and subsidies, ensure timely payments to landlords and services, document financial transactions.
• Community Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement: build relationships with clients, landlords, and community partners; represent the organization at CoC meetings; develop outreach materials and training resources.
