Job summary

The Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development's Rental Assistance Division seeks a housing services specialist to support SRAP and PSH programs, handling data entry, referrals, and eligibility processes.

You'll work under limited supervision, interact with clients and partners, and ensure program integrity with compassionate service. This grant-funded role emphasizes thorough records, strong communication, and the ability to work with diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, public or business administration, counseling, or related field.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Experience performing accurate and high-volume data entry in a fast paced environment.
• Experience with data management software or case management systems (YARDI, Housing Pro, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Ensures sensitive information is entered accurately and promptly in the system.
• Performs quality control on data and records.
• Coordinates with partner agency to support waitlist eligibility determinations.
• Assists staff with program outreach, client contact, and documentation.
• Provides timely, accurate responses to customer inquiries while maintaining professional communication.
• Maintains professionalism with diverse clients, including those in crisis or housing instability.
• Exhibits patience, empathy, and sound judgment in challenging situations.
• Delivers high-quality customer service in person, by phone, and in writing.
