Job summary

YMCA of the National Capital Region is seeking a Security Worker to join the Housing Services Team. Reporting to the Team Supervisor, Housing Residence Desk, you will help protect residents, staff and visitors while supporting safe, welcoming housing programs and services.

This full-time on-site role requires crisis intervention awareness, security experience, CPR/AED/First Aid, and a commitment to inclusion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken; bilingualism is an asset.
• Security-related training is an asset.
• Experience in security/hospitality front desk/cash handling/customer service.
• CPR, AED and First Aid Certification required.
• Bilingual capacity preferred.
• Computer literacy in common applications.
• Applicants must have a valid permit to work in Canada.
• Police Record check within the last 6 months; vaccination and training requirements as applicable.
• Annual mandatory training for Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons.

Responsibilities

• Control access to the building and monitor entrances and parking areas.
• Provide entry services to staff and support during crises.
• Deliver emergency security responses and timely incident reporting.
• Conduct regular building patrols and log maintenance.
• Perform periodic floor checks via video surveillance.
• Document significant interactions and complete incident reports.
• Manage guest sign-in and issue passes as required.
• Check fire alarm panels during alarms and coordinate with responders.
• Issue association keys to authorized staff.
• Shovel and de-ice entryways to maintain safe pathways in winter.
• Maintain a safe environment by supporting other staff and contacting emergency services when needed.
