Job summary

Dallas County in Dallas, TX is seeking a Housing Manager to oversee the County's housing programs including Section 8, HOPWA, homeless housing initiatives, and loan counseling. You will supervise about 34 staff and manage a large operating budget, coordinating services across program areas.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, business or related field with at least five years of experience, including two in management.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, business or related field.
• Five (5) years of work experience with at least two years in management.
• Knowledge of public health principles, program planning and systems management.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with staff, departments and the public.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all housing programs serving low- to moderate-income families.
• Develop short- and long-term goals for the programs.
• Recruit, train, discipline and assign staff using sound management practices.
• Communicate policies and programs to staff, clients and community.
• Recommend policies reflecting housing needs to the County Commissioners Court.
• Develop and justify annual operating budgets for housing programs.
• Engage with commissions and agencies to share information and address issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
