Job summary

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) seeks a Housing Program Specialist to oversee the Commonwealth’s affordable housing funds and help ensure program results. The role focuses on production and preservation of affordable housing, with state and federal funds managed under ASNH guidelines.

You will provide technical assistance and training to local grantees and applicants, aligning activities with federal and state regulations, and supporting grant administration

Qualifications

• Analytical skills to interpret program regulations and grant financial administration.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, stakeholders, and team members.
• Experience reading and applying program regulations to ensure compliance and monitor grantee activities.
• Knowledge of financial practices including payment processing, expense reporting, and account reconciliation.
• Strong problem-solving skills with limited oversight.
• Experience managing multiple programs, priorities, and projects.
• Experience delivering trainings and technical presentations to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
