Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s Housing Services and the Office of Residential Education seek an Assistant Director of Housing Operations–Assignments to oversee housing assignment processes and the StarRez system. You will guide a critical operations team, coordinate communications, and ensure data integrity across all housing activities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years in housing/residence life, with a preference for StarRez experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience required; housing/residence life preferred.
• Experience using StarRez or a similar housing software system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all housing assignment processes including Upper-class Housing/Room Selection, First-Year Assignments, waitlist, and room changes.
• Manage StarRez housing portal processes, forms, and data integrity.
• Serve as primary contact for student and parent questions via email, phone, and in-person.
• Supervise one professional staff member and oversee student staff.
• Coordinate training, occupancy planning, and reporting responsibilities.
• Manage messaging and communications across university housing documents and newsletters.
