Job description

VISTA Housing Navigation Specialist
Paid Internship

We serve all veteran and military service members, spouses, and dependents and will serve as a collaboration space connecting them with other Veteran Service Organizations. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, energetic, self-disciplined, and tenacious veteran ambassador with a clear understanding of the needs of veterans and their family members within the community on a cultural, social, and economic level. The VISTA will have opportunities to develop skills in operations management, leadership experience, public speaking skills, project management success, personal accountability, community partnership visionary skills, process improvement, and interpersonal skills to support the core services the chamber provides to all veterans, their family members, and community partners. This VISTA needs to be agile, flexible, and open-minded to change as we mold and shape the position with a “building from ground zero” mentality upon assuming roles. The goal of the VISTA is to support the navigation network hub for veterans, military serving members, and their families in matching community resources for education, housing for heroes, Veteran & family-owned business, workforce management, and family & wellness services. The VISTA will play a critical role in combating poverty by supporting housing stability initiatives for veterans and their families- many of whom face significant barriers related to housing insecurity, lack of affordable homeownership options, and insufficient access to repair resources for aging or unsafe homes. By coordinating and building the infrastructure around these services, the VISTA will help address the root causes of poverty and create lasting pathways to economic security for those who have served our nation.
